Album sales decline slows in Q1; digital sales dip
During the three months ended April 4, combined U.S. sales of albums and track-equivalent albums (or TEA, where 10 tracks equal an album) totaled 113.2 million units, down 6.1 percent from 120.6 million during the corresponding period of 2009, when sales fell 7 percent year on year, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The 'First Lady of Afro-Cuban Jazz' Graciela Dead at 94

One of the most prominent, trailblazing voices of Afro-Cuban music, Graciela Peréz-Gutierrez, known simply as Graciela, died on Wednesday in Manhattan, where she lived. She was 94. The cause of death was renal and pulmonary failure.

Feuding Queens woman tries to kill Eddie Palmieri's wife
An 81-year-old Queens woman tried to kill Latin-jazz great Eddie Palmieri's wife, shooting her in a dispute fueled by jealousy, noise complaints and ethnic tensions, authorities said. Geriatric gunslinger Maria Cartagena fired once at Iraida Palmieri, 73, grazing her head Tuesday night near the elevator in their Forest Hills condo building, officials said.
